He is then cast into the political scene and runs for president. The book is funny and laden with one liner humorous footnotes throughout. Vote for Larry is a wonderful, fast reading novel that all teenagers will enjoy. Although humorous, the book has a strong political theme of peace. Aspect 1: The author writes from the viewpoint of a young man named Larry who fakes his death, and then comes back to run for president of the United States.
Aspect 2: The young character mother has died, so he is on his own. He has a host of friends, including two girls for which he has romantic feelings. But he makes his own independent decisions, both personal and political.
Aspect 3: The novel is a humorous one in which a young man fakes his death and then comes back to run for the president of the United States. Although the novel is adventurous humorous, it has strong personal and political ideas that concern adolescents.
Aspect 4: The novel is one of humor with man hilarious ideas from the standpoint of a teenager regarding politics and love.
Aspect 5: The young character in the novel makes many reference to Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and Ceaser Chavez as heroes who stood up for what was right. In this the author acknowledges the value of diversity. These heroes were Larry’s inspiration.
Aspect 6: The young man, Larry, although he had doubts about his ability to become president, became increasingly optimistic about his own political ideals and his ability to be heard. Although he didn’t win the presidential race, due to a set up involving his name, he learned what was more important than politics. Love for those who are dear to us and freedom from the game of politics.
Aspect 7: The young man deals with various emotions such as fear, shame, anger, love, infatuation, confusion, self-doubt and freedom
